Future Educators Association is an international program for middle and high school students interested in exploring careers in education. The program is similar to the Future Teachers of America, an activity that existed prior to 1969 under the auspices of the NEA.
Mission: The FEA provides middle and high school students with opportunities to explore teaching as a career option. It helps students gain a realistic understanding of the nature of education and the role of the teacher.
The international office coordinates information about teaching as a profession, employment opportunities, financial assistance options, and such educational issues as professional mobility, diversity, job security, and other matters.
Goal: Allows students to explore teaching as a career option, provides them with a realistic understanding of teaching, and encourages students from diverse backgrounds to think seriously about the teaching profession
Did you know that teaching is one of the top three most prestigious occupations, according to a 2007 Harris poll of U.S. adults?
Teaching is a promising career option. Particularly needed in the future will be teachers from diverse backgrounds who will be sensitive to the diversity in our classrooms. As the only international precollegiate extracurricular program for prospective teachers, FEA has the mission to provide students with opportunities to explore careers in education. We hope that through participation in an FEA chapter students will gain a realistic understanding of the nature of education and the role of the teacher.
FEA'S Chalk Walk--Gar-Field FEA will be participating in the National Chalk Walk in the Spring of 2009. More information will be posted as it becomes available.
FEA meets on the first and third Tuesdays of the month. Special meetings may be held on other dates and will be anounced below.
